Our Science

Better understanding leads to better performance.

The human system is complex. So we start with understanding it. Equilo brings together biology, evidence and formulation science to understand the conditions that influence how we think, recover and perform.

WHERE WE BEGIN

Start with the system. Not the ingredient.

We don't begin with a list of ingredients and work backwards to find a reason for them. We begin by understanding the human system — the biological processes that influence cognition, recovery, energy and resilience. From there, we explore the mechanisms involved and identify where meaningful intervention may be possible.

01

Understand the system

The foundations that shape how we feel, think and function. Before we consider an intervention, we look at the biological systems that influence human performance — from sleep and recovery to energy, stress regulation and cognition. Understanding how these systems interact gives us a clearer picture of what supports the mind when it needs to perform.

02

Identify the opportunity

Find where meaningful change may be possible. Once we understand the system, we look for the biological mechanisms and pathways that may influence the outcome we're trying to support. This helps us distinguish between areas with meaningful potential and those where the evidence is still too limited to draw conclusions.

03

Evaluate the evidence

Follow the evidence before choosing an intervention. We examine the available research to understand what has been studied, how consistently the findings appear, and how relevant they are to the context we're exploring. The strength of the evidence helps determine what we pursue, what we refine, and what we leave alone.

Human Reaseach

Move from theory to human experience.

Laboratory research can help us understand mechanisms. Human research helps us understand what happens when those mechanisms meet real life. Equilo is building a human research program to study how our protocols influence the foundations of cognitive performance — from recovery and sleep to focus and cognitive readiness. We measure meaningful outcomes, acknowledge individual variation and let what we learn inform what comes next.

How we formulate

Every ingredient has a reason to be here.

We don't formulate for the sake of a longer label. Every ingredient is evaluated in context — for what it does, what the evidence tells us, and why it belongs in the finished formulation.

The Pupose

An ingredient should have a clear role before it has a place in a formula. We begin by asking what biological function we are trying to support and whether a particular ingredient can meaningfully contribute to it. This keeps formulation focused on the outcome rather than the ingredient itself.

The Evidence

An ingredient can sound promising without having strong evidence behind it. We look beyond individual claims to understand the quality, consistency and relevance of the research available. Where evidence is limited, we treat that uncertainty as part of the picture — not something to hide.

The Formulation

An ingredient doesn't work in isolation. Its form, dose, combination and place within a formulation all matter. We consider how ingredients work together and whether the finished formula makes sense as a whole. The goal is not to create the most complicated formula. It's to create the most intentional one.

Science x Decision Performance™

Better conditions. Better decisions.

Equilo's scientific work ultimately comes back to one question: What conditions allow a person to think and perform at their best? Decision Performance™ brings together what we understand about biology, recovery and cognition to create a practical framework for improving those conditions.

Biology

The biological systems that shape how we feel, think and function. Sleep, nutrition, stress, energy and other physiological processes create the conditions in which cognitive performance takes place.

Recovery

Recovery gives the brain and body an opportunity to restore capacity after sustained demand. Better recovery supports the energy, resilience and readiness required to perform consistently over time.

Cognition

Cognition is our ability to focus, process information, adapt and make sense of complexity. Its quality is influenced not only by the mind itself, but by the biological state supporting it.

Decision

Every decision is made within a particular biological and cognitive state. The conditions we create before and during that moment can influence how clearly we evaluate information, manage pressure and choose a course of action.

Performance

Performance is the expression of everything that comes before it. When the underlying conditions are supported, we create a stronger foundation for consistent thinking, better decisions and meaningful action.

Continuous Learning

The work doesn't end when the product launches.

Science changes as new evidence emerges. So does our understanding. We continue to review new research, evaluate what we learn from human studies and refine our formulations and protocols accordingly. We don't see uncertainty as something to hide.

We see it as a reason to keep learning.
